Renewing your wedding vows is a deeply meaningful and memorable way to renew the bonds of love within a marriage, and to share that love with others in your life
by declaring in a special way your continuing commitment to your spouse before family and friends.

Couples use the ceremony as an opportunity to publicly express their love and commitment to one another. Above all else, a wedding vow renewal ceremony should be an expression of the unique joy of your life together. The ceremony can strengthen your relationship as you create new memories together.

Some reasons you may want celebrate a vow re-affirmation might be to celebrate a significant wedding anniversary such as a 10th, 20th or 50th anniversary, maybe it might be to celebrate a life changing event or period in your lives such as your children leaving home and you finding yourselves back as a couple before raising a family, or one of you coming through a stressful time or major illness and using the ceremony as a celebration of life.

There are few rules about vow renewal and the ceremony can be a simple expression of your commitment or larger gathering of family and friends and the resultant celebrations. Which ever way you chose it can be tailored to the way you want.

There are no legal requirements except that it can not be a second wedding. You can include elements from your original wedding day though such as readings, vows, etc. The bride may wish to wear her original wedding gown that has been safely stored away for all these years.

As with any civil ceremonies you are only limited by your imagination in so far as the venue and style of ceremony that you want. Most vow renewals do not have attendants such as bridesmaids, best man and so on, but any of the original bridal party would surely love to attend and help you celebrate. This occasion is usually just for the couple to be the important component in re-affirming their commitment to each other and preparing for many more years and memories ahead.

I can help you plan and create a memorable ceremony fitting the occasion. Some of the points you may wish to consider in planning your Re-affirmation of Vows ceremony are:

·   Is there a special date that we want to renew our vows on?

·   What kind of budget can we afford for a vow renewal?

·   Where do we want to have our vow renewal: is there a special venue?

·   Who do we want to invite to our vow renewal?

·   Will we need invitations?

·   How should we plan for any other participants such as our children or
             family?

·   Do we want to re-use our wedding rings or have new ones made?

·   Do we want to exchange gifts to commemorate this day?

·   What should we wear at our vow renewal?

·   Do we want to include some of our original vows, readings?

·   What music should we play, maybe something form our wedding day?

·   Do we want to include any special friends or memories from our
             wedding in our vow renewal?
